Winter will be here before we know it and many people will be left scrambling to find a place to store things like yard equipment, sports gear, outdoor patio furniture, pool equipment and more during the cold winter months. Most people don’t have an abundance of storage space in their homes and they end up sacrificing the safety of these important items just to find a place for them. Unfortunately, most people aren’t aware of the many benefits of storing such items in a long-term storage container during the winter months. All too often, people are swayed by the misconceptions that swirl around about long-term storage. Well we are here to set the record straight and debunk a few of the common misconceptions about storing items in long-term storage for the winter.
#1: My items don’t really need to be in storage. They will be fine in my garage or shed.
Many people don’t take the time to properly store and secure their belongings for the winter because they feel like these items are safe in their garage or shed. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case and many of these belongings are susceptible to damage if stored in the garage. The extremely cold temperatures can damage things like lawn mowers, blowers, certain types of patio furniture, pool supplies, and sports equipment. The cold air can cause these items to become brittle and crack. Furthermore, the moisture from rain, snow, and ice can wreak havoc on many of these items. Your items are also at risk of damage from rodents who might find shelter from the cold inside your shed or garage. These items can be very costly and you can protect your investment by storing them in a temperature-controlled container where they will remain safe from moisture and unwanted pests.
#2: My belongings won’t be easily accessible if I need them.
One of the best things about storage containers is the convenience. If your belongings are in long-term storage, you can easily access your belongings when you need them. You have the option of driving to the storage facility and getting what you need or you can also arrange to have your portable storage container delivered directly to your home and then transported back to the storage facility upon your request.
#3: My belongings won’t be safe in storage.
Another great benefit of storage containers is the fact that they are a safe and secure storage option. The storage containers are made of durable steel that is weather resistant so you can be sure your belongings will be safe from the outdoor elements. In addition, your storage container will remain locked and only you will have the key so you can rest assured that your items will be well secured.
#4: Long-term storage is only for moving.
Although many people utilize storage containers when they are moving, these nifty containers can actually come in handy for a number of reasons. They are a great way to ensure your belongings are safely and properly stored during the winter months and you will be amazed at how much extra space you will have in your home and in your garage. They are also so spacious that it’s easy to keep your belongings neatly organized and easy to find when you need them.
#5: It’s too expensive to store my things in long-term storage.
This is perhaps the biggest misconception people have about storing their belongings. Many people don’t realize how much extra space it will create when they move these seasonal items into storage for the winter. It will make your home more organized, more accessible, and more enjoyable. The best part is that storage containers are available in more than one size so you can choose the size that best fits your needs and most storage companies offer reasonable prices on the units. You really can enjoy the benefits of additional storage at a price you can afford.
