Packing tips
Since a do-it-yourself move is custom designed by you, it is important to remember some key guidelines for making sure that your move is still completed safely. Consider the amount of space you have to utilize within your storage unit. If you are transporting a lot of items that can shift easily, consider packing them tightly so that they will not move, fall or break during transport.
Create a list of each item you place into your SMARTBOX container. This is a great tip for organizational purposes, and it will help you to make sure you don’t forget anything important.
Always pack the heaviest items you own on the bottom of the SMARTBOX container, and place items that are lighter in weight towards the top. This is to help protect delicate and fragile items from breaking and it also helps to provide the best possible packing protection for your belongings. Be sure to evenly distribute the weight of the heaviest items so that you avoid the risk of your load shifting. Using all of your available space and adding cushioning support will also help.
Another important safety consideration is making sure that you do not move any harmful substances that are unsafe, both to you and others. This can range from any item that is flammable and toxic, to items that are aerosol based and alcoholic.
